About Rater-X

A Human Judgment Engineering company, building the Trust Layer Behind AI.

Rater-X designs and manages the human judgment behind reliable AI. We believe better AI depends on better-designed human evaluation, and we build the systems that make it possible.

Our story

Built to make human judgment a designed discipline.

Rater-X was founded in 2024 on a clear belief: as AI systems make more important decisions and serve more people, the human evaluation behind them must be prepared and managed with care.

Too much AI evaluation still depends on unclear criteria and underprepared reviewers. Rater-X exists to change that by treating guidelines, preparation, calibration and quality assurance as parts of one system, not separate tasks left to chance.

What Human Judgment Engineering means

The discipline behind everything we do.

Human Judgment Engineering is how we design, train and manage people to evaluate AI consistently, accurately and responsibly.

It combines clear guidelines, trained evaluators, calibration to align how guidelines are applied, quality checks and continuous improvement so organisations can trust the human decisions behind their AI.

Our mission

What we are here to do

To design, develop and operate human judgment systems that help organisations build more reliable, accountable and trustworthy artificial intelligence.

Our vision

Where we are headed

A future in which reliable human judgment is foundational to every consequential intelligent system, and Human Judgment Engineering is recognised as the discipline that makes it possible.

The founder

David Bassey

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

David founded Rater-X to make human judgment a designed, accountable part of how AI is built. He entered AI evaluation in 2021, and his experience spans search quality, content evaluation, map evaluation, RLHF-related evaluation and AI quality operations.

That background shaped the belief at the centre of Rater-X: the people evaluating AI should receive the preparation, guidance and calibration needed to make reliable decisions.

Our Principles

Seven commitments we hold to.

01

Clarity

Criteria are made explicit before any judgment is asked for.

02

Evidence

Decisions are grounded in what can be shown, not asserted.

03

Preparation

Evaluators are prepared for the task before live work begins.

04

Calibration

Evaluators are aligned using shared examples and references so they apply guidelines consistently.

05

Quality

Work passes defined quality checks before it reaches you.

06

Accountability

The evaluation process and important decisions can be explained and reviewed.

07

Responsible growth

We expand only when quality is proven, never ahead of it.
